| Spring ISD Special Services to Dispose of Confidential Records |
HOUSTON – The Special Services department of Spring ISD will soon dispose of the confidential records of students who have not received special education assessments, instruction, or related services since May, 2002. These records will be destroyed in August of this year unless a request is received requesting otherwise.
The district feels that destruction of unused records is the best protection against improper or unauthorized disclosure. However, the special education records may be of future importance for purposes such as applying for social security benefits. Therefore, if any parents or adult students (or former students) do not want confidential records destroyed, they should make that request in writing.
Requests are to be forwarded by August 31, 2009, to Dede Drexler, Executive Director of Special Services, Spring Independent School District, 16717 Ella Blvd., Houston, TX 77090.
