| Congressman Green Visits Wunderlich |
|
Spring, TX -- Congressman Al Green, representing the 9th Congressional District of Houston, visited the Gifted Educated Notoriously Talented Students (G.E.N.T.S) Club of Wunderlich Intermediate School. He urged students to use their time well and to make good choices that will lead toward success.

Previous guest speakers for the school year have included Mayor Bill White of Houston, Judge Kent Adams, Dr. Dexter Turnquest who is a surgeon, Mr. Donald Turner who is an airline pilot, Mr. Ray Bejarno who is the general manager of Greenspoint Mall, and Mr. Kenneth Gold who is an engineer.
Parents of the young men who are members of G.E.N.T.S. attended the meeting to hear Congressman Green. They were complimentary of what the club had meant to their sons. Ms. Geraldine Quillin praised the club for encouraging her son to use socially acceptable ways to interact with others. Her husband Mr. Keith Quillin appreciates the club’s giving members a vision for the future. Mr. and Mrs. James Jones feel that the club has been an opportunity to learn what accepting responsibility and demonstrating good behavior can bring. Mr. Jesse Castro likes the way the club has given his son confidence to express himself. Ms. Mary Casarez has concluded that the club is “Like a class in real life.”
Young men who are members also express praise for the club. Jesus Rendon said, “I have learned things that will help me plan a career.” Julio Rendon described the year’s speakers as “heroes who have taught me a lot.” Keanu Mock said, “The club has helped me be a better person.” Luis Figueroa stated, “It’s a good club. It helps me stay out of trouble.” DeAndre Cooper described the club as “inspirational.” Julio Villarreal stated, “It helps young teenagers know how to be young adults.”
