LaKayla LaFrance and team score nine top six finishes at High Velocity Invitational!

Spring, TX, May 25, 2009. – Fourteen year old LaKayla LaFrance took home the Gold Medal on Saturday in the 200 Meter Hurdles with a time of 31.05. She and twelve other Texas Stallions participated in the High Velocity Team Invitational Meet on Saturday. With the season in full swing LaKayla and her teammates are preparing for the upcoming district championships where they will have the opportunity to qualify for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics to be held in Des Moines, IA in early August. In their fifth meet of the season, the Stallions competed in a AAU sanctioned event held by the High Velocity at Traylor Stadium with a variety of track and field events for youth 5 – 18 years old. Eight boys and six girls took part in events that were held by age groups: Primary (5-8), Bantam (9-10), 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18. Awards were given for the top-six finishers in each age group. In all the stallions took home nine top-six finishes.
The top-six finishers in their age group and event were: • Christopher Collins – 800m Run, 2nd - 2:19.73 and 1500m, 3rd - Run 5:37 • Christopher Ward –1500m Run, 4th – 6:11 • Freddie Moore – Shot Put, 5th – 23’5” • Kaylan Harris – 400m Run, 5th – 1:06.01 • LaKayla LaFrance - 200m Hurdles, 1st - 31.05 • LaMika LaFrance – 400m Run, 6th - 1:07.05 and 200m Dash, 4th • Lavoxkeia Carnes – 400m Run, 4th – 1:18.42 The Texas Stallions Stable consists of Adam White, Ahmad Cummings, Alexander Brooks, Anthony Grant, Audreanecia Hagan, Brittany Collins, Christopher Collins, Christopher Ward, Freddie Moore, Harrison Moore, Hunter Cork, Jarius Chevalier, Jonathan Carnes, Kaleb Bryant, Kaylan Harris, LaKayla LaFrance, LaMika LaFrance, Lavoxkeia Carnes, and Zhanna Brooks.
A youth Track and Field Club, the Texas Stallions are based in Spring Texas. Practices are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at Klein Oak High School and Klein Collins High School. About the Texas Stallions Youth Track Club The Texas Stallions Youth Track Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Gulf Association and the USA Track and Field (USATF) Gulf Association youth track programs for boys and girls from ages 6 to 18 years old. Our track club is dedicated to the development of youth track and field athletes in the North Houston area. Our objectives are: to challenge our youth through track and field, and to strive for excellence in every life endeavor; to teach fundamental track and field principles that will equip youth athletes with the skills to compete on a national level; To develop the minds and bodies for future leadership athletic training and discipline; and to develop a spirit of competitiveness that will foster a desire to always strive for excellence.
