| YMCA Senior Open House and Bring a Friend Day |
Celebrating National Senior Health & Fitness Day
The Montgomery County YMCAs are opening its doors for free to seniors on May 27th celebrating National Senior Health & Wellness Day. The Open House will give seniors a chance to see and sample what the YMCA has to offer, whether it be exercise classes, social gatherings, volunteer opportunities or field trips.

The YMCA Open House and Bring a Friend Day for Seniors and their Guests is Wednesday, May 27. Wear your tennis shoes and be ready to live it up, have fun and make new friends. Information will available on YMCA Wellness programs and the SilverSneakers® Program along with light refreshments, door prizes and giveaways.
Open House activities at the Conroe Family YMCA are scheduled from 8:00am – Noon and will include:
8:00am: Low Impact Aerobics Class
9:30am: Organized Group Walk
11:00am: SilverSneakers Demo Class
Open House activities at the South Montgomery County Shadowbend YMCA are scheduled from 9:00am – 1:00pm and will include:
9:30am: Organized Group Walk
10:30am: Mini Chair Massages
10:45am: Seniorcize Class
11:30am: SilverSneakers® Demo
Noon: Balance and Fall Prevention Class
A representative from Texas Health Springs will be on hand from 9:00am – 11:30m, at the South County YMCA to answer questions on the popular SilverSneakers Fitness Program. The SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is here to help you improve your health and is provided for you at no additional cost by your Medicare and Medicare Supplement health plan carriers that are part of the SilverSneakers® program. One of the many benefits of the SilverSneakers® program is a free membership to your local YMCA! At the YMCA, not only do we focus on senior health fitness, we make sure our older adult members know they are an important part of our YMCA family. Studies show that older adults are seeking more than physical benefits when they come to the YMCA . . . they also want a sense of community and to strengthen social ties. Meet new friends every time you visit the YMCA. The YMCA offers several exercise and social opportunities for older adults, including: Water aerobics, Silver Sneakers Sit and Fit exercise classes, Seniorcize Aerobic classes, Seniorcize Yoga, Monthly Field trips, Social gatherings including potluck lunches, birthday breakfast and lunch outings twice a month and volunteer opportunities.
