The YMCA Child Development Center offers a fun learning environment focusing on the assessment and development of each individual child. Based on the research in early childhood development, the Greater Houston Area YMCA, has implemented the Scholastic Early Reading and Writing curriculum in all the preschool programs. This curriculum emphasizes vocabulary and early reading skills with a vocabulary goal of 5,000 words.
Pre-K students implement the Letter People Curriculum with emphasis on preparation for Kindergarten. All students, 3 years and older, are taught using the C.I.R.C.L.E method of classroom management, a program developed by the Texas Health and Science Center, to encourage early reading and language development.
YMCA Child Care programs are fully licensed by the state of Texas and meet all city, state, and federal safety standards. As YMCAs are collectively the nation’s largest providers of child care, serving nearly half a million children every week, the YMCA really does build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
Registration is now open for the Summer and Fall program. (Limited space available) The Child Development Center offers a full day care program for children ages 12 months – Pre-Kindergarten. In partnership with Conroe ISD, the YMCA offers after school care at most elementary schools in South County including the new Birnham Woods Elementary opening in August for the 200/2010 School Year. The YMCA will also be offering an after school program at the new Creekside Elementary, Tomball ISD, in Creekside Village which also opens in August.
To register or for more information, please stop by the South Montgomery County YMCA Child Development Center, 6145 Shadowbend Place in the Woodlands. The center is open Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 6:30pm. More information is available by calling 281-681-6716 or log on to www.southcounty-ymca.org.
The YMCA is a charitable non-profit organization. We strive to turn no one away due to inability to pay. Financial assistance available based on available resources.
