Klein Teachers Prepare for Third Grade Field Trip
Spring, TX. Teachers from Klein ISD elementary schools attended an open house/training session at the Pearl Fincher Museum of the Fine Arts in preparation for this fall’s third grade field trip to the Cypress Creek Cultural Center. While at the Pearl Fincher Museum, teachers learned about the exhibit, “An American View: The Hosek Collection of American Art,” what goes on behind the scene at the museum to create an exhibit, and the on-going educational programs offered by the museum.
Ms. Rosemary Hickman, the education director of the museum, coordinated the day’s learning experience for teachers.

The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, Cypress Creek FACE, The Barbara Bush Branch of the Harris County Public Library, and the Cypress Creek Christian Community Center have worked together to create an interdisciplinary arts experience for students that includes literary, performing, and visual arts.

When the students make their field trip, they will see “How Nanita Learned to Make Flan” at the Centrum. This multicultural opera for children has been described as “a magical musical festival.” The opera is a production of Houston Grand Opera’s Opera to Go! At the library, they will take a tour of the children’s library. Students will participate in an artist-led mural project at the Cypress Creek Community Center,.

The Klein ISD is located in north Harris County and has more than 43,527 students in its twenty-six (26) elementary, eight (8) intermediate, and four (4) high schools. Visit the district’s Web site at www.kleinisd.net for additional information about the Klein Independent School District.
